CLINTON — Virgil Thompson Harbach, 92, of Clinton, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on June 26, 2018, at Luther Oaks, Bloomington, Ill.

Private family services will be conducted on Saturday, June 30, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Stephen Hill and the Rev. Laurie Hill officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, with military honors.  Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, June 29, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Clinton Presbyterian Church or Clinton YMCA.

Virgil was born on May 20, 1926, in Freeport, Ill., the son of Oscar and Lillian (Dribelbus) Harbach.  He married Eunice Koeller on October 25, 1945, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Survivors include his wife Eunice Harbach, Bloomington; children, Pamela (Richard) Graves; Beth (Dr. Michael) Sprague, and Curtis (Vickie) Harbach; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Virgil graduated from Lena, Ill. High School in 1944.  He then entered the U.S. Navy Air Corps, in June 1944.  After his discharge in February 1946, Virgil attended the University of Illinois.  He graduated with a BA in agriculture in 1948.  He also received a masters in education in 1955.  He taught agriculture at Earlville, Ill. for seven years.  Virgil then went into private agriculture business, where he had many partners and friends.

Virgil enjoyed tennis, fishing, golfing, hunting and flying his “Lance” aircraft.
