WAPELLA — Friends of Wapella Veterans will dedicate its Wall of Honor on Sunday at Wapella Park. Project coordinator Bryan Atwood gave some details to trustees during Tuesday’s Village board meeting.
“The electrician will be finished tomorrow; the graphic designer will be finished on Thursday,” Atwood said. “That leaves us Friday and Saturday to spruce up the grounds.”
Atwood said he expected 300-400 people to attend the ceremony, which he estimated would take about an hour.
Fundraising and planning for the memorial began early in 2019 with preliminary work on the site completed later that year.
Memorial unveiling is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20. Signs will direct people to available parking.
