Wapella‘Festival of Trees’ brightens season

WAPELLA — The Wapella Festival of Trees was held over the weekend in the Farmers & Merchants Bank, located in downtown Wapella.

In addition to a tree decorated by the youth of Clinton’s The Vault teen and community center, many other trees were on display.

Trees were decorated in memory of loved ones or for particular organizations.  Ornaments included vintage and contemporary.

The Farmers & Merchants Bank building, built in 1903, was bought in the early 2000s by the Donovan family and has been taking shape as a mercantile and other uses.

Entering from the east was a tree decorated by the Filkin family in honor of Don Filkin and Don’s Tree Farm, which did business for many years west of Wapella.  In the building a little farther down the aisle on the same side was a princess tree in honor of the many princess films and dolls.
