Vespasian Warner Public Library District aims to assist homebound residents

CLINTON – The Vespasian Warner Public Library District announced this week the addition of free mobile notary services to the area.

A notary public is a person who has legal authority to witness the signing of documents in order to make them legally valid. Beginning December 12, individuals who are not able to make it into the library to have documents notarized may schedule an appointment for a notary public to visit them at home.

The addition of mobile outreach extends the library’s current notary services one step further.

“We have noticed that many people who are in need of a notary are homebound or do not have transportation to get to the library,” said Bobbi Perryman, Executive Director of the Vespasian Warner Public Library District.

Mobile notary will be available on most Wednesdays from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. for residents who live within the Clinton Unit School District boundaries.  Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling the library at (217) 935-5174. A library card is not required to utilize notary services, but the person must have a valid ID or driver’s license.

The Vespasian Warner Public Library District asks that this service be reserved for those who are not able to visit the library due to a medical condition or transportation limitations.  Regular notary services will still be available when the library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Vespasian Warner Public Library District serves Clinton, Wapella, Hallsville, Lane, Dewitt and surrounding areas. The library provides the community with informational, recreational, cultural and educational resources and services. For more information, visit www.vwarner.org.
