CLINTON — Wesley W. Spencer, 85, of Clinton, passed away at 3:25 a.m. on September 3, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, Ill.

Masonic services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017, with funeral services to follow at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, Ill., with military honors. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Wesley W. Spencer memorial fund for college softball scholarships.

Wesley was born April 18, 1932, in Hallsville, Ill., the son of Thomas Clark and Mary Ellen (Works) Spencer. He married Judy Boylan June 29, 1957 in Kenney, Ill.. She passed away on April 23, 2010.

Survivors include his children, Doris (Glenn) Sanders, Quincy, Ill.; Lesli “Sas” Spencer, Clinton, Ill.; Mike (Deanna) Spencer, Clinton, Ill.; sister, Mettie “Tootie” (Don) Vogeler, Rochelle, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; special friends who called him “Uncle Wes,” Peyton (Alex) Freschi, Troy, Ill., Kennedy Conn, Springfield, Mo., and Evan Conn and Wesley Conn, Wapella, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters.

Wesley was an umpire for IHSA softball and travel softball for over 55 years. He had been the area coordinator for the Khoury League. He loved the Chicago Cubs and was a die hard fan. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
