What’s All the Commotion? Welcome Home Krystal!

Posted

CLINTON — On Monday, October 8, after 15 months’ deployment to the Republic of Djibouti, located in the horn of Africa, Krystal Cicenas was greeted as she returned home.

Krystal asked her husband Ed to have a low-keyed reception for her return.  The only problem was, Ed let the cat out of the bag and told a few AMVETS Post 14 members, where she is also a member.

Suddently, a “low-keyed” reception parade was arranged.   A police escort, fire trucks, the Department of Illinois AMVETS Commander, plus a few AMVETS cars were there to greet and lead her into town.  The parade started at the north intersection of Business 51 and the 51 Bypass.

With sirens and horns sounding, it proceeded down Center Street, around the square twice (where one of the AMVETS was waving flags in both hands) and then to their home on South Clinton Street.

Krystal is a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy Reserve, and this was her second deployment, the first being to Afghanistan.  She has served for 22 years, 8 years active and 14 years in the Reserve.  She and her husband Ed own the EMC Photography here in Clinton.
