CLINTON — William A. Gentry, 88, of Clinton, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on June 3, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by family.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with J. Kent Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, with military honors. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Weldon Springs Veterans Point.
William was born on November 27, 1929, in Clinton, the son of Fairris and Carrie (Isaacs) Gentry. He married Ida Ellen Thoms on October 22, 1972, in Clinton. She passed away on June 30, 2008.
Survivors include his children, Jason William (Heather Alexander) Gentry, Clinton, and Sara Jo Gentry, Clinton; and brother Larry (Mary Ellen) Gentry, Dahinda, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.
William was a retired sheet metal worker and member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local No. 1. He also worked in heating and cooling and did body work.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his family.
