Joey Woolridge, Director of the DeWitt County Museum, spoke on the topic of “Artifacts of Interest from the DeWitt County Museum” at the January 13 meeting of the DeWitt Clinton Chapter NSDAR. Joey is pictured holding a photograph of the S.S. Eastland, which sank at the wharf’s edge in the Chicago River on July 24, 1915, causing the deaths of 844 passengers including 22 families. The tragedy became known as the Eastland Disaster. Additional items were also displayed and discussed with the chapter members.
