CLINTON — The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. will host its first annual Dollars for Scholars Trivia Night on Saturday, Nov. 16 to benefit a newly established scholarship for a DeWitt County student to attend Richland Community College.

The Write Stuff for Kids recently awarded its first $1,000 Off and Running Scholarship to a Clinton student.

Tickets are $20 for the Dollars for Scholars event.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at The Abagail with the trivia fun starting at 6 p.m. Ticket includes light refreshments and a cash bar and appetizers are available from The Abagail.

“We are so pleased to help a DeWitt County student continue their education at Richland Community College, a great educational resource for our area.  We encourage people to support our efforts with a donation to make sure future students have the chance to further their education through the Off and Running Scholarship,” said Helen Michelassi, president of The Write Stuff for Kids Inc.

The scholarship is the latest contribution by the Write Stuff for Kids Inc. to area students and their families.  Since 2002, the organization has provided school supplies to students in Clinton and surrounding school districts.

“Our work would not be possible without the generosity of local residents, businesses and organizations.  We hope everyone will put on their Clinton school colors and join for a night of fun,” said Michelassi.

The group also has provided tuition for Clinton students to attend Richland’s CDL truck drivers course and supplied teachers with much-needed equipment for their classrooms.

Tickets for the Dollars for Scholars Trivia Night may be purchased from Write Stuff for Kids Inc. board members: Kathleen Frick, Helen Michelassi, Lauri Torbert, Tina Baxter, Tere Tedrick, Sharon Ijams or Edith Brady-Lunny.  Tickets also may be purchased by calling (217) 972-8632 or (309) 824-5273.
