CLINTON — The Clinton Community YMCA and Woods Photography Studio have again teamed up to offer students in 4th grade the opportunity to take water safety classes.
For the past 13 years, Woods Studio has funded the program that makes it possible every 4th grade student in the Clinton School District to have the opportunity to learn water safety. The program represents the only opportunity many students have to receive formal instruction in water safety.
Knowing how to handle a water emergency may be the difference between life and death. In the program, 4th grade students receive instruction on boating safety, lifejackets, floating and treading skills, safe reaching and throwing rescues, as well as beginning swimming skills, all at no cost to them.
Every level of swim classes at the YMCA incorporates some level of water safety, but this program takes that instruction a step further.
