CLINTON — Alleta Marie Monts, 101, of Clinton, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on November 16, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton. Visitation will be held from 1–2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Clinton United Methodist Church or Shriners Hospital for Children.
Alleta was born on August 15, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Tony and Phoebe (Hale) DeLuca. She married Lowell V. “Rusty” Monts on September 30, 1943, in Clinton. He passed away on September 14, 2014.
She is survived by one son, Ronald Monts, of Clinton; one daughter, Suzanne McClure, of Springfield; six grandchildren, Dennis (Tuesday) Monts, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Jeffrey Monts, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Jason Monts, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Angela Leeser, of Dixon, Ill., Paul (Michelle) Monts, of Champaign, Ill., Kelly (Eric) Grady, of Mt. Sterling, Ill., one step-granddaughter, Merredith Dodds (Alan), of Champaign, and step-granddaughter-in-law, Dhey McClure, of Chicago; 10 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Michael Monts, one grandson, L. Matthew McClure, her son-in-law, L. Milton McClure, and one step-grandson, Lloyd M. “Trey” McClure.
Alletta was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a member of the DeWitt County Home Bureau. She was an 80-plus-year member of Kenney United Methodist Church. She was the oldest member of the Kenney United Methodist Church when it closed. She was currently attending Clinton United Methodist church.
