CJHS wrestlers over Parkside at home

CLINTON — On Thursday, February 10, the Normal Parkside Pythons came to town to take on the Clinton Junior High (CJHS) Maroons grapplers.

This was a dual meet between the two teams, so there was just one mat in the center of the gym.  The meet started well for the Maroons with several forfeits by the Pythons and then a pin by the Maroons 18 seconds into the first round of the fourth match of the evening.

The home team scored another win on a close decision before the opposition scored a pin and a close decision for 9 points (Clinton had 27 points by this time).  The Maroons then added 33 more points on pins, forfeits and a decision before the Pythons scored another pin (and their last points of the meet).

The Maroons finished the evening with three more pins and a major decision to score the win 82-15.

This was also 8th grade recognition night for the wrestlers, and the two grapplers moving on were Blake Gundy and R. J. Stamp.
