County looks to reorganize zoning, adm. responsibilities

CLINTON — The county currently is working toward improving the efficiency of two positions.  The county board’s land use committee discussed the issue at its Oct. 15 meeting.

“At the finance meeting, we came up with a budget for $32,000 a year, and it be a part-time position, which comes out to be $32 and hour,” reported Melonie Tilley, chairman of the board’s finance committee.  “We thought that was a fair wage for that.”

Tilley said that would be for zoning administrator.  She added, her committee did not discuss a zoning assistant position.

“We didn’t talk about an assistant, for them to be job-sharing,” Tilley said.  “We just talked about it being rebuilt into a part-time position.”

Currently, the county board’s administrative assistant Dee Dee Rentmeister also serves as zoning administrator.

Tilley said other counties of similar size paid comparable wages for zoning positions.
