Deteriorated sewer line will be replaced in the county building

CLINTON — Age and conditions have taken a toll on the systems beneath the DeWitt County Building, requiring the county board to initiate some repairs.

The board voted recently to replace a sewer line serving the county building for $8,550 from Trimble Plumbing.  Property committee chairman Terry Ferguson briefed board members on the current situation.

“We’ve got a sewer leak on the back side of the building,” Ferguson said.  “The pipe broke a couple of years ago in the restroom area, and now it’s gone on down the line.”

Ferguson said it was a cast iron line that settled and rusted out.  He said the work will currently involve only the restroom and hallway area.
