SAN JOSE, Ill. — Dorothy Mae Imig, 98, of San Jose, Ill., died Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Liberty Village Nursing Home in Clinton. She was born on April 11, 1922, in Mason County, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Cora (Pottorf) Yardley. She married Floyd Raymond Imig on January 3, 1943.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Terry (Sharon) Imig of Romeo, Mich.; Rick (Lou Ann) Imig, of Clinton; and Randy (Jennifer) Imig of St. Elmo, Ill.; grandchildren Sam (Nicole) Imig of Jackson, Mich.; Teri (Ben) Olson of Macomb Township, Mich.; Sarah (Nathan) Wheeler of Clinton; Katherine Imig of Clinton; Andrew (Elisabeth) Imig of Park Ridge, Ill.; Hannah (Eric) Heiden of St. Elmo, Ill.; and Emily (Robert) Miller of Brownstown, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, brother Kenneth (Helen) Yardley of Mason City, Ill.; daughter-in-laws Gloria (Maaks) Imig of San Jose; Theresa (Moehring) Imig of Clinton; and granddaughter Rebekah Imig of Springfield.
Dorothy graduated from San Jose High School in 1940 and was married to Floyd Imig for 63 years. She was a hard-working farmer’s wife and mother, with a love of gardening and flowers. She faithfully attended St. Luke Lutheran Church in San Jose and enjoyed socializing over a hot cup of tea and playing cards.
A private graveside service will be held at Allen’s Grove Cemetery on Friday, June 5, at 10 a.m. A public celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date.
