Downtown Clinton Festival of Trees set-up scheduled for end of November

CLINTON — Clinton Festival of Trees co-organizer Melissa Morris addressed the city council Nov. 5 to again solicit support for the event.  This will be the second year for the event, which Morris coordinates with Nate Ennis.

This year, Morris asked the council for a $3,000 donation.

“As you know, we hosted our first ever light the trees event on Mr. Lincoln’s Square last year and could not have been happier with the support and results,” Morris told the council.

“The event brought joy, tears, laughs and smiles to people young and old.”

The first festival featured 66 decorated trees.  Businesses, organizations and families sponsored and decorated trees for the display, which ran through the holiday season.

“We have raised just over $7,500 from the sale of 100 trees,” Morris said.  “Each tree will cost us $35 to have delivered to the square.”

She said any remaining funds would go toward electrical cords and accessories to light the additional trees.  Morris also said additional costs would include insurance and accounting fees to complete establishing the organization.
