CLINTON — During the month of June, the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum presented “Quilted Keepsakes,” a quilt show featuring more than 30 quilts displayed throughout the mansion.
The exhibit included a varied collection of pieces loaned to the museum especially for the show. These included heirlooms loaned by various individuals, quilts from private collections, as well as contemporary pieces created by area quilters.
More than 100 visitors from across central Illinois and beyond toured the mansion and viewed the quilts. According to the June guest register, those who visited the museum in June were from the Illinois cities, towns and villages of Danville, Warrensburg, Towanda, Atlanta, Virden, Morris, Taylorville, New Berlin, Hallsville, Normal, Mt. Zion, Springfield, Findley, Chicago, Stonington, Weldon, Rochester, Bloomington, Wapella, Lincoln, Peoria, Maroa, Champaign, Decatur, DeWitt, Pleasant Plains,
Heyworth, and Clinton as well as the states of Nevada, Minnesota, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, and Arizona.
Those who attended the quilt show voted for their favorite piece of needlework. This year, the honor of being selected as the viewers’ favorite quilt went to quilter Brandy Brown of Decatur for her all hand-appliqued “Friends of Baltimore” Baltimore Album quilt which also took first place at the 2023 Illinois State Fair.
The Quilted Keepsakes Quilt Show is an annual event. Brown’s outstanding quilt will be honorably displayed during next year’s quilt show. Anyone interested in loaning a quilt for next year’s show is encouraged to do so by contacting the museum at 217-935-6066 in early May of 2026.
