James Lawrence 'Bud' Weikle

MAROA — James Lawrence “Bud” Weikle, Sr., 94, of Maroa, passed away at 1:36 a.m. on December 12, 2019, at his residence surrounded by family.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with Kindred Hospice Chaplain Ellen Anderson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Maroa Cemetery, Maroa.  Visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2019, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, and one hour prior to service on Saturday.  The family requests casual attire.

Memorials may be directed to the Maroa Fire Department.

James was born on January 5, 1925, in Argenta, Ill., the son of Fred and Edna (Bird) Weikle. He married Bernadine Elsie Spainhour on September 28, 1946, in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife, Bernadine E. Weikle, Maroa; children, James (Marilynn) Weikle, Maroa; Paul William (Lorene) Weikle, Maroa; Richard (Susan)Weikle, Dwight; Wesley (Karen) Weikle, Maroa; Patricia “Patty” (Dan) Ballenger, Clinton; 28 grandchildren 40 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Oakes, Maroa; Jean Hill, Forsyth; Darrell Weikle, Maroa; and Frank Weikle, Maroa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Thomas, one brother and three sisters.

Bud retired as a foreman from Revere Copper & Brass Inc., Clinton, and later retired from Maroa Ag. He enjoyed pitching in fast-pitch softball.
