Maroons’ freshmen contain Titans from start to finish

CLINTON — On Wednesday, December 10, the Clinton High School (CHS) freshman basketball team hosted the Titians of El Paso/Gridley at Gene Vance Gymnasium.

The opposition appeared to be the favorite in warm-ups with their height and long-range shooting ability.  However, actual game experiences proved this to be wrong.

As the first quarter passed, the Maroons had five players scoring 17 points, while the Titans had only one player scoring for 2 points on free throws.

The second quarter was much the same with the Maroons going on an 11-4 run to go into halftime up 28-6.

The Titans came onto the court fired up for the 3rd quarter, but scored only 8 points to the home team’s 16.  The Titans were then held scoreless in the final quarter, while the home team slowed the pace with ball control.

The Maroons had the game well in hand winning 49-14.

Eight Maroons scored points in the game for a well-rounded offense, while defensively keeping the visitors scoring to just two players.

Bell (#20) led the Maroons with 12 points followed by Monkman (#30) and Wilson (#31) each scoring 8 points.  The Maroons also score 8 three- point shots during the game.
