CLINTON — Former Clinton resident and 1982 graduate of Clinton High School Lt. Col. Edward Hubble, retired was keynote speaker Monday during Clinton’s Memorial Day ceremonies, held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Hubble said he considered it a privilege to address the crowd on Monday.
“I know that many of you have endured and sacrificed so much more than I and supported the causes that we’re called upon by our nation to defend,” Hubble said.
Hubble thanked not only those attending who had served in the military but others who were at Monday’s observance.
“By just being here today, it shows your compassion, your respect, your appreciation and dedication to the fallen,” Hubble said.
He said Memorial Day was a time to remember those who served but, especially, those who died in service to the country.
“Let us not forget that the true purpose of Memorial Day is not as a celebration but a sober reminder of the high price that has and will be paid to maintain the privileges and freedoms that we hold dear today,” Hubble said.
