CLINTON — Helen Michelassi took her oath of office from city clerk Kamren Wilford May 6 as Clinton’s new mayor.  Her first official act was to read a proclamation declaring May Older Americans Month in the city.

The council approved the reappointments of the following city officials for one year:

• John Hoblit, city attorney

• Kamren Wilford, city clerk

• Clint Lichtenwalter, city treasurer

• Tom Edmunds, budget officer

• Steve Lobb, public works director

In his report for the department of streets and public improvements, Ken Buchanan reminded residents to not place brush along the streets earlier than the week before city pick up.  Brush pick up is the third week of the month, so brush should be at the street by at least Monday of that week, Buchanan said.
