CLINTON — Piattran, the public transportation provider based in Piatt County, will begin service in DeWitt County on July 1.  A representative for Piattran announced the plan to the DeWitt County Board in October 2024.

“All of us at Piattran are excited to partner with DeWitt County to help meet a growing need for public transportation,” said Tim Gadbury, Piattran director, in a media release.  “Whether you’re a senior, someone without a vehicle or just looking for a more convenient way to get around, we’re here to help.”

Piattran will serve Clinton, Farmer City, Wapella and surrounding areas.  The service is available to the general public, regardless of age or ability and will provide “door-to-door, demand-response rides for a variety of needs, including medical appointments, work, shopping and social visits,” according to the Piattran release.

Gadbury addressed the DeWitt County Board on October 24, telling board members his agency was stepping in to assume routes covered by Show Bus, whose services he said would expire this month.
