Planning begins on new city hall

CLINTON — The city has initiated the process for the design and construction of a new city hall/fire department/police department facility.  Representatives of the construction and architectural/engineering firms met with the city council recently.

“The city has been talking about a new city hall/fire station/police station for a while,” said Clinton administrator Taylor Baxter.  “Most notably, the fire station.  Fire trucks have gotten bigger and our facility has not grown.”

When the city needed a new tower truck a few years ago, options were restricted to vehicles that were short enough to fit inside the station.

The city advertised for bids, Request for Proposal (RFP), for design and build designs for a new facility.

“We received three great firms that were interested in our project, and we ultimately decided to go with CORE Construction and the Farnsworth Group,” Baxter said.

The city filed the RFP for public view in April.
