CLINTON — During the public participation portion of the April 15 city council meeting, resident Robert Kreitler addressed commissioners about ordinance warnings he received from the city.
Krietler said he received a warning for not providing garbage containers for his business. He said he was not operating a business.
“I don’t understand what this is,” Kreitler said. The ordinance control officer …he can’t explain it either.”
Kreitler said he also was warned about a 2002 Ford Expedition vehicle on his property. He said the vehicle was licensed and parked in the grass in his back yard.
“He said it wasn’t an approved surface,” Kreitler said.
Krietler said city code allowed boats, travel trailers, recreational vehicles or similar vehicles to be parked in front of a house on approved surfaces, such as concrete.
“My Expedition is none of those, and it wasn’t in the front yard,” Kreitler said.
He said he did not see any restrictions in the code regarding storage of vehicles in back yards. Kreitler said the vehicle was operational and not abandoned. He said it was insured and had current tags.
And, Kreitler said he was warned about three John Deere riding mowers on his property reported as being in “a state of disassembly.” He said they were not disassembled but one was missing its hood. Kreitler said, otherwise, all three were operational.
Commissioner John Wise, who currently presides over council meetings until the new mayor is sworn in, said he was unfamiliar with the circumstances but would look into it.
