CLINTON — Incorporated in 1967, the DeWitt County Museum Association was established “to provide educational opportunities and to promote and preserve DeWitt County’s history and heritage.” More than 50 years later, the 501c3 nonprofit organization continues to carry out that vital mission. As always, the museum welcomes new members and the prospect of growth.
DeWitt County Museum Association membership is open to all. Annual dues (beginning at $15 for an individual membership) are collected each January, so now is an best time to consider becoming a new member or giving a gift membership.
Memberships support the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum in its continuing efforts to preserve and interpret our county’s unique history, provide quality educational opportunities for students and adults, host special events, promote local tourism, maintain the C.H. Moore Homestead (house, carriage barn, farm exhibit buildings, grounds and historical collection), enhance the local economy, organize the annual Apple ‘n Pork Festival, and encourage community pride in DeWitt County’s past and present.
Membership also comes with benefits, such as unlimited free admission for daily tours, the annual quilt show and candlelight tours, complimentary subscription to the Homestead Gazette newsletter, and the satisfaction that comes with supporting an active, independently-funded nonprofit organization.
While members are under no obligation to become involved with museum activities, those wishing to become active associates are encouraged to do so. Various volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year. You can also help by attending museum special events, making purchases at the Museum Gift Shop, and encouraging friends to do the same.
To learn more or to request a membership form, contact the museum by calling (217) 935-6066 or send an email to chmoore.homestead@gmail.com.
