SMITHTON, Ill. — Rick F. Reddington, 71, of Smithton, Ill., formerly of Cahokia, Ill., born on March 12, 1947, in Clinton, died on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at his residence.

 Rick was retired from the Kansas City-Southern Railroad in St. Louis, Mo. and from Rail Pros of Irvine, Texas. Rick loved his job.  He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.  He was both a 3rd Degree and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  Rick also was a member of the American Legion Stookey Post 1255 of Belleville, Ill.; the Moose Lodge: and the St. Louis Bar-B-Que Assn, where he was a judge.  He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and socializing. He was a loyal supporter of the Clinton, Ill. Fire Department that his son, grandson and granddaughter are members of.

 He was preceded in death by a son, Nick Christopher Reddington; his parents, Milzer  “Bud” and Loretta, Going, Reddington; and his very dear friend, Donna Dwiggins.

 Surviving are his special friend, Martha J. Young of Smithton, Ill.; a son, Rick (Melissa) Reddington; three grandchildren, Chris, Cassidy, and Nick Reddington;a great granddaughter, Lilly; and a former step-grandson, Jordan Cook.

At Rick’s request his body was to be cremated.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018. at Catfish’s Sandy Ridge Again Tavern in Cahokia, Ill.  

Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia, Ill. handled the arrangements.
