SPRINGFIELD — Robert L. Welch, 96, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, in Lincoln.
Robert was born on September 3, 1928, in Mead, Neb., the son of Robert R. and Edith M. (Taylor) Welch. He married Dotty Sloop on November 27, 1954, and she preceded him in death in 2023.
Bob served his country in the United States Army from 1947-1948. He then went on to work as a manager for Marco Chemicals in Clinton, for 30 years. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family and grandkids.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dotty; two brothers, Eldon and Max Welch; and two sisters, Betty Robinson and Phyllis LaMotta.
Bob is survived by his children, Curt (Mary Beth) Welch, Ann Gerrond, Mark (Linda) Welch, and Jane (Nathan) Fields; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Rochester Christian Church. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Rochester Christian Church.
