CLINTON — After serving as Creek Township clerk for 47 years, Jan Utterback marked her retirement Tuesday during the township board meeting.

Jan first became clerk of Creek Township in 1973, partly at the encouragement of her father Charles Hollibaugh, who served as DeWitt County Coroner in the 1970s.

As clerk, Jan was responsible for maintaining records and documents of the township and worked to help ensure low taxes while accomplishing township objectives.  She also presided over township board meetings.

The current board of trustees includes Roger Wilson, Jack Nichols, Ted Riva and Steve Parker.  Supervisor is Katy Nichols and highway commissioner is Roger Wantland.

Rebecca Wheat assumes Jan’s duties as newly-appointed clerk.
