CLINTON – The Vespasian Warner Public Library District in Clinton opened its building for browsing on Monday, June 22. The main floor, children’s floor, and periodicals room is now open to the public while the rest of the building remains closed during this phase. Visitor capacity is limited to 50 people and masks are required.
This is the first time since March 16 that visitors have been able to access more than the main circulation desk, which opened for service on May 4.
“The library was never really closed,” said Bobbi Perryman, Executive Director of the library. “We were constantly finding ways to serve our community through creative channels like social media videos, virtual programs, and the digital library.”
Library visitors may browse for and select their own books, audiobooks, movies, videogames, and magazines for check-out. Advance ordering and curbside pickup are still available for those wishing to speed up the check-out process. Popular services such as public computers, fax, printing, copies, and lamination are also offered.
The Summer Reading Club is a major highlight each summer and this year is no different. The reading club runs through July 31 and is free for everyone ages three through adult. Participants receive a weekly kit filled with crafts and activities to complete at home and are asked to log their reading minutes for the chance to win prizes. Registration and more information is available online at www.vwarner.org/summer-reading-club and at the library.
Current library hours are Monday-Thursday from 1-6 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from noon-3 p.m.. Hours are expected to expand in the near future. For more information about current services, visit www.vwarner.org or call 217-935-5174.
