At about 8:42 a.m. on Sunday, Clinton Police and DeWitt County EMS responded to a report of an unresponsive 4-month-old female at a residence in the 400 block of S. Jackson Street.

The infant was taken to Warner Hospital & Health Services, Dewitt County Coroner, Randy Rice, pronounced the child dead at 9:30 a.m.

Assisting with the investigation is the Illinois State Police and Dewitt County Coroner’s Office.

“At this point, this is a death investigation and will remain as such until or unless we determine otherwise. We are following our death investigation protocol and anticipate more information following autopsy and toxicology reports,” said Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers.

Rice told the Clinton Journal an autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning.
