KENNEY — The sheriff's department late Tuesday morning released a still image captured from security video of a suspect in Sunday's vandalism in Kenney.
As of late yesterday, DeWitt County Sheriff Mike Walker reported the burglary spree in Kenney sometime Sunday night or Monday morning affected 10 vehicles, two businesses, one residence and two vehicle thefts.
Walker said the businesses included the elevator and Excel railcar company. Blood was found at the rail car company well as inside several vehicles.
Currently, the sheriff’s department is reviewing a security video and is working to get a still photo of the burglar.
Anyone with any information or video footage is asked to contact the sheriff at 217-935-3196.
Residents of Kenney woke up Monday morning to discover two businesses and, initially, five vehicles had been burglarized overnight. Two local vehicles were reported stolen, as well.
DeWitt County Sheriff Mike Walker said calls started coming to his department about 4:45 a.m. Monday, June 24. He said the businesses burglarized were the elevator and the rail car office and break room. Walker did not have information about anything missing from these locations.
The two stolen vehicles have been recovered, he said.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene technicians have been processing the scenes around the village all day.
Some video footage has been obtained and Walker asked anyone who may have information or security video to contact his department at 935-9507.
