2020 CHS graduation INFORMATION

Clinton High School Seniors and Parents
Clinton High School Graduation: June 28, beginning at 2 p.m. in the high school.
All guidelines identified in this document must be followed in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. CHS is working with WHOW to broadcast this ceremony “live”. All speeches will be prerecorded and played at the approximate times listed.
I. Guidelines and Requirements
a. Students will be allowed to bring with them up to 8 guests. No more than 8 guests, not counting the graduate, will be allowed into the auditorium.
b. All guest must remain in their cars upon entering the school grounds until directed otherwise.
c. All graduates and their guests will be required to remain at least 6 feet from the graduates and their guests in front of them in order to maintain the social distancing guidelines identified by IDPH and CDC. Appropriate markings will be placed on the floor indicating the locations guests are to stand.
d. Graduates should have their tassel placed on the left side of their cap signifying that their graduation requirements have been met.
e. When the graduates name is announced, they will walk the stage, pick up their diploma from the table, take a short time (10-20 seconds) to pose for a picture (taken by Mark Woods), and then exit the stage. Parents will be allowed to take pictures at this time as well, but will not be allowed to delay the ceremony to do so.
f. Once the graduate receives their diploma and exits the stage, they and their guests must exit the building immediately, return to their cars, and leave the premises in order to allow the ceremony to continue in a timely manner. No loitering will be allowed.
II. Parking
a. All graduates and their guests will be assigned two parking spots in our lot. (See the parking assignments listed) Those wishing to attend, under the maximum of 8 guideline, will need to arrive in one of two vehicles and park in those assigned spots. The assigned numbers will be painted in each parking spot in the lot West of the building. Upon entrance to the school grounds, it is imperative that all guests go to their assigned spot, remain in their cars, and wait for further direction. If you enter the parking lot early and your assigned spot is currently occupied please wait in the lot further West until those in your spots are cleared and it is ready for you.
b. Students with last names from Aguilar to Fatheree will need to be in their assigned parking spaces by 2 p.m.
c. Students with last names from Green to A. Nicholls will need to be in their assigned parking space by 2:15 p.m.
d. Students with last names from S. Nicholls to Spaugh will need to be in their assigned parking space by 3 p.m.
e. Students with last names from Spurling to Zbinden need to be in their assigned spots by 3:15 pm.
III. Approximate Ceremony Schedule – the ceremony will begin at 2pm and can be heard “live” on WHOW.
a. 2:00 – Pomp and Circumstance
b. 2:02 – Welcome
c. 2:04 – Salutatorian and Valedictorians recognized
d. 2:05 – Valedictorian’s Speech (pre-recorded)
e. 2:10 – Message to the Class – Mrs. Holl (pre-recorded)
f. 2:20 – Mr. Nettles pronouncement (pre-recorded)
g. 2:21 – Students names announced/receive diplomas (live)
h. 4:30 or after the last name is announced – Closing words (pre-recorded)
IV. Non-Participants – Those students not wishing to participate in this ceremony will be allowed to pick up their diploma from the main office beginning Monday June 22.
