CLINTON — The Clinton Family Video store, along with all of the Family Video stores owned by Highland Ventures, Ltd., will close permanently, the company announced on Jan. 5.
In a media release, Highland Ventures CEO, Keith Hoogland, announced the closure of all of the company’s Family Video outlets. Highland also owns Marco’s Pizza, Stay Fit 24, Highland Pure Water & Ice and Legacy Commercial.
Family Video is the nation’s largest video rental chain.
“Today, I have to make the difficult announcement that we are closing all Family Video locations,” Hoogland said in a media release. “The impact of COVID-19, not only in foot traffic but also in the lack of movie releases, pushed us to the end of an era.”
Hoogland expressed his gratitude to employees and customers. He said, while disappointed by the closure, his company still would be tied to those communities through its Legacy Commercial Property division.
Family video rented new-release and classic movies on disc as well as video games and game systems. The company has about 800 Family Video locations.
Stores will remain open until all stock is sold.
