CLINTON — Mayor Roger Cyrulik reported on Monday the city worked with Sen. Chapin Rose to draft a letter to Gov. Pritzker recommending rural areas of the state be allowed to move faster to reopen.  His comments came during a city council conference call meeting.

“We will forward that letter to Sen. Rose, which will go on to be submitted to the governor this week,” Cyrulik said.  “Hoping to get some kind of voice in the “Restore Illinois” plan.”
Cyrulik said he felt this region of the state should be able to move faster “than what is being proposed,” he said.  
The letter acknowledges the governor’s desire to protect Illinois residents during the COVID-19 pandemic but expresses concern over the pace of the planned reopening of business in the state.  The letter addresses a fear that area residents and business owners will endure irrevocable economic hardships if the pace of reopening is too slow.
