City to apply for IDOT grant

Grant could help address some ADA issues

Posted

CLINTON — The city will apply for a $250,000 grant from the state to help upgrade portions of Jackson Street.  Public Works Administrator Steve Lobb briefed the city council about the grant on Monday.

“It’s basically involved with safe travel to schools,” Lobb said.  “It’s run through IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation).”

The window to apply for the grant, however, is brief, so Lobb was looking Monday for direction from the council.

“There is a pretty aggressive turnaround on it,” Lobb said.

The completed application has to be ready to submit my mid- September.

The grant is for up to $250,000 and is an 80/20 split payment, “much like we’ve had on some other projects of that nature,” Lobb said.
