CLINTON— The local health department reported Thursday the first person in DeWitt County has tested positive for COVID-19.
A 52-year-old woman reported developing symptoms on Mar. 23 and was tested later on Mar. 30, according to the DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department.
Officials believe she was exposed through a household member who attended a Chicago conference. Another person attending the conference later tested positive for the virus.
A 22-year-old Piatt County woman also has tested positive.
Health department staff will begin attempting to identify anyone who might have had contact with the two confirmed cases.
