CLINTON — Every year, millions of Americans lose billions of dollars after they become victims of scams through phone calls or the internet.

The Clinton Police Department has partnered with the DeWitt Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to provide information to the public on how these scams operate and the best ways to avoid them.

The public is invited to attend the Sept. 11 DAR meeting at the Vespasian Warner Public Library for a presentation by Clinton Police Officer Mike Bennett. The 10 a.m. meeting will be held in the Museum Room on the library’s second floor.

Registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served.

The widespread scams to steal from innocent victims is a growing concern in our community. Officer Bennett will share his knowledge of how these crimes are being perpetrated and what people can do to avoid being victimized.
