School board welcomes Sondra Baker

CLINTON — The Clinton School Board of Education welcomed new board member Sondra Baker to her first meeting Tuesday night. Baker was appointed the to seat previously filled by Mike Walker who resigned to focus on his election to the DeWitt County’s Sheriff’s office.
Baker is employed as a coordinator for Illinois Environthon. She has one daughter who graduated from Clinton High School in 2017 and another who is currently a 5th grade student at Clinton Elementary.
John Blythe was appointed secretary, Rodney Rogers, vice president and Dan Matthews, president.
In other business, the board:
• Approved the adoption of the fiscal year 2019 budget.
• Learned the Central Illinois CEO program will host an event on Oct. 10 at Clinton Country Club. Local business professionals will be invited.
• Approved the hiring of Madison Filkin as a volunteer assistant for high school girls’ basketball; Nichole Brewer and Brittany Powell as aides at CES; and Mark Tippitt as CJHS custodian.
