CLINTON — A sound study critical to the planned Alta Farms II wind project will go to the county board next week without a recommendation from the board’s land use committee.

Land use committee members met on Monday with a representative of the firm conducting the study and with representatives of Tradewind Energy, development manager Kyle Lockhause and Tradewind’s attorney, Jim Griffin.

Building permit applications for each of the 57 planned turbines were submitted to the county this month.  Each of the applications includes updated sound study information based on changes made to the plan since the county approved Tradewind’s special use permit, Lockhause told committee members.

The firm conducting the sound study was selected by Tradewind, which, similar to debate over who should select a firm for the engineering study, has caused disagreement between board members.
