CLINTON — Charlene “Inky” Followell, 73, of Clinton, passed away 2:38 a.m. on March 23, 2017, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Visitation will be 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Cremation rites will follow.
Memorials may be directed to the Charlene Followell memorial fund.
Charlene was born on March 18, 1944, in Clinton, the daughter of Merle and Ruby (Rice) Scogin. She married Tom Followell on October 11, 1963, in Clinton.
Survivors include her children, Genita Hawes, Clinton; Sue Followell, Clinton; and Tom “Chopper” Followell, Clinton; six grandchildren, especially Amber Reynolds who cared for her these past four years, five great-grandchildren, and sister, Betty Agee, Lincoln, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; twin sister, Darlene Scogin; sister, Dorothy Mills; and brother, Jimmy Scogin.
Charlene drove a school bus for the Clinton School District and worked at the nursing home. She enjoyed playing Poker machines and Bingo.
