CLINTON — At Tuesday night’s school board meeting, Clinton Superintendent Curt Nettles confirmed that unless the district receives “compelling evidence” to the contrary, students will return to in-person learning five days per week on Jan. 4. Classes will continue to dismiss at 1:30 p.m. each day.
“All Covid protocols will remain in place,” said Nettles. Changes will happen if needed, or if the health department or the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) makes changes.
“We’re marching to IDPH’s drum here.”
“Extra-curriculars will happen when IDPH says they can happen,” said Nettles. “That’s the bottom line, folks. It doesn’t matter what IHSA, IESA says.”
Lincoln School will have seven more students returning to in-person learning. Douglas will have 23 students returning and only one person moving to remote. CES will have 25 students returning to in-person classes and seven moving to remote. CJHS will have 23 returning to in-person and CHS will have 10 returning to in-person while about the same amount are choosing to move to remote.
“We’re very happy that we have a number of kids coming back in-person,” said Nettles.
The board also approved the employment of Peyton Welch as a CES aide, and Jerica Moyer as CHS’ in-school suspension supervisor.
