CLINTON — The Wood Badge is Boy Scout’s highest training for an adult leader and is one of only a handful that actually go to leaders. Joe Adams, the Cubmaster of Pack 142 of Clinton, received his recently. He joins a small, elite group of recipients worldwide that have completed the special training, helping them become better leaders and to then help train the current Scouts to be better leaders.
He also had to complete several goals that he set for himself before receiving the honor, including creating a special scholarship program to help boys in Cub Scouts who would otherwise not be able to afford scouting and improving and implementing a new system for communications to flow between Cub Scout leaders and the parents.
As part of the Wood Badge, the person receives a new neckerchief. Adams’ father Dean Adams presented the award to his son. Dean Adams helped his son many years ago when he was part of the same Pack 142 and Pack 143 as leader. And then helped Joe achieve Eagle Scout as a Boy Scout.
Dean Adams also participated in the special ceremony at United Methodist Church during the Scouts’ annual Christmas Party.
