One person dies in rural DeWitt County fire

CLINTON — Multiple area fire departments, including Clinton Fire Department, responded Wednesday to a house fire in rural eastern DeWitt County. DeWitt County Coroner Randall J. Rice, State Fire Marshall and the DeWitt County Sherriff’s Office is investigating the fire that claimed the life of Patricia Mae Smith, 73.
She was the only person living at the residence at the time of the fire. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
