CLINTON — This past Saturday, March 24, the ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary hosted a benefit dinner and auction for the HOOAH Deer Hunt for Heroes.
“HOOAH” sponsors outings for disabled veterans outside of their normal clinical settings, organizing not only deer hunts but pheasant hunting and various fishing outings and tournaments, some even including their children.
These events are also at no cost to the participating disabled veterans, thus the reason for fundraising events.
The Auxiliary benefit was established last year as a fundraiser for the “HOOAH” group and has turned into an annual event. This year’s event included a silent auction, a live auction and a soup (chicken noodle or chili) and sandwich (pulled pork) supper.
Although totals are not yet complete, the event staff and “HOOAH” staff agreed that it was a great success, even with the dicey weather outside.
Lance Schmid donated his services for the auction.
