CLINTON — First National Bank and Trust Company has announced Josh Shofner as market president.

Shofner’s experience includes working with First National Bank and Trust Company for 17 years, most recently serving as vice president and senior loan officer.

Shofner grew up in Weldon and graduated from DeLand-Weldon High School. Shofner holds degrees from the University of Illinois in mathematics and an MBA from Illinois State University where he received the program's top recognition upon completion in 2012. He is also a graduate of the Midwest School for Community Bankers and most recently, the American Bankers Association’s Commercial Lending School in Dallas, Texas.

“To be named as market president for First National Bank and Trust Company and work with our outstanding staff is an exciting opportunity and great responsibility,” Shofner said. “Our wide expansion of services in mid-June will allow us to offer many of the same services of the larger banks, but with the same local employees our clients have come to know. We will also continue to partner with our clients to provide the outstanding experience they have come to expect and deserve.”

During his time at FNBT, Shofner has served as a board member with other non-profit organizations such as the Clinton YMCA, Clinton Rotary and as a school board member in a neighboring district for over 13 years. Shofner resides in Weldon with his wife, Charity, and their 12-year-old daughter.

“We are eager about the opportunities for Josh and everyone associated with the bank as he assumes this new role," said Neil Stanley, president of Community Banking. "We don’t often find someone with Josh’s combination of experience and capacity in bank acquisitions, and we are excited about the future of the bank in Clinton.”
