HEYWORTH — The Hornets boys team hosted the Maroons the Maroons during the News Year’s break  This would prove to be a full-game, all-out battle.

The Hornets had the size advantage with most players at about 6 ft-4 inches tall with a 6-foot 8-inch center.  But, the Maroons had the speed and agility.

The first quarter went to the Hornets by four points.  The Maroons then battled back to tie the game at 23 points when the halftime buzzer sounded.

The Hornets retuned to the hardwood in the third quarter determined to defend their home court and again took a lead, 6 points this time.  But, Maroons squad’s tenacity pushed them forward.

The fourth quarter went to the Maroons, who tied the game at 53 points just prior to the buzzer.  The Maroons’ crowd was on its feet.
