CLINTON — In the next to last home game of the year, the Maroons faced the Eureka Hornets.

The junior varsities (JV) began the evening with the Hornets taking a 13-9 lead by the end of the first quarter.  The Maroons toughed out the second quarter to come within two points at halftime 22-20.

The third quarter had meager scoring, 9 points a piece, the final quarter had the Hornets swarming again to add 7 points to their lead giving the opposition a 48-39 win.

Dalton Bell (#23) was high scorer for the Maroons with 12 points (including one 3-pointer) assisted by Anthony Westbrooks (#0) with 10 points (including two 3-pointers).

In the following second (varsity) game the home team took a slight 13-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, but were outscored in the second, yet held onto a 22-20 lead at halftime.

The second half saw the Hornets pestering the Maroons, but the home team held together to outscore the opposition and take a 54-48 win.

The Maroons that led the way were Dawson Graves (#2) with 19 points (one 3-pointer) and Mason Walker (#3) with 18 points (with a whopping four 3-pointers).

On the last home game of the year, the Maroons hosted the LeRoy Panthers.  The junior (JV) varsities played first to warm up the crowd.

After a slow initial quarter with both teams each scoring only 9 points, the Maroons took charge.  The home team scored in double digits in the last three quarters while holding the opposition to single digits.

The Maroons were on their game both offensively and defensively.  The Maroons JV won 47-30.

The team was held together with the offense of D. Bell (#23) with 19 points (three 3-pointers).

Next on the “Gene Vance Court” were the varsity teams.  LeRoy was one of the few teams that defeated the Maroons last season.

The Maroons exploded in the first quarter on a 23-6 run for a lead they would not relinquish.

The second quarter saw the Panthers struggle back with 19 points to the Maroons’ 22.  This gave the Maroons a 45-25 halftime lead.

Both teams scored 11 points on the third quarter, and the Maroons slowed to 9 points in the final stanza while holding the Panthers to a single point.  The Maroons took the massive win 73-37.

The Maroons scoring came from everywhere with Dawson Graves (##20 and Mason Walker (#3) at the helm with 22 points each (Graves with two 3-pointers and Walker with three 3-pointers.  They were assisted by Brooks Cluver (#12) with 14 points (one 3-pointer) and Dalton Bell (#23) with 12 points (with two 3-pointers).
