CLINTON — On Saturday, December 16, the Clinton Maroons’ wrestlers hosted their annual Clinton Invitational, this year including 14 teams and a mind boggling number of wrestlers. 

There were plenty of fans on hand to cheer on their grapplers.  The “Gene Vance Court” in the Clinton High School main gymnasium was turned into a huge wrestling mat, actually four mats, for the occasion. 

The Maroons wrestled in 13 weight classes, and after their loss to Mahomet/Seymour a couple of nights earlier, made an exceptional showing in the meet. 

The Clifton Central Comets took first place with 293.5 points followed by the Clinton Maroons with 250 points and third place was garnered by the El Paso/Gridley Titans with 206 points.
