CLINTON — The county, on Dec. 21, approved an application for a 40-acre solar electric generating facility planned for the Farmer City area.
Blue Iris Solar originally submitted its application under the previous ordinance language regulating community and commercial solar projects. The county board concluded the project met the criteria under the ordinance.
Board member Buck Carter recommended rejecting the Blue Iris application. He said the project did not meet the ordinance requirements as a community solar project because of its size and the intention of the project.
“This project is tied to the grid,” Carter said. “Also, our ordinance requires five acres or less. This project is 40 acres.”
