City takes on projects with volunteer assistance

CLINTON — A group of volunteers has formed to help the city accomplish some work around Clinton.  Mayor Helen Michelassi reported on the effort during the most recent city council meeting.

“We’ve had several folks in the community reach out and want to know about volunteer opportunities and things they could do to help,” Michelassi said.

Michelassi said city officials met with a few of those people.

“And, one of the first projects they’re working on is the “Welcome to Clinton” signs at all the points of entry into Clinton,” Michelassi said.

She said she expected the new signs to be completed in August, in time for the Apple n’ Pork Festival in September.

“A big thanks to all those who volunteered to help,” Michelassi said.  “I think we’re also involving a 4-H group that said they would like to help.”

Public works director Steve Lobb and city administrator Tony Harris are working with the group to plan some more volunteer projects.
